A Fashion Photographer’s Perspective: Capturing Peppermayo’s Blume Collection in Melbourne
There’s nothing quite like the thrill of capturing a new collection launch. When Peppermayo invited me to document their Blume collection in Melbourne, I knew I was in for a visual treat.
The transformation of Two Ton Max warehouse space took my breath away. The branded photo wall parted to reveal an intimate dinner setting that was a dream to photograph. The serpentine table, draped in flowing fabric, presented a challenge that every event photographer relishes – how to capture the essence of design in a still image.
I’m always on the lookout for unique details that tell a broader story. The floral arrangements featuring mushrooms and chestnuts, hand-painted name cards, and charming blue chairs all provided opportunities for compelling close-ups. These elements helped me weave a visual narrative that went beyond just showcasing clothes.
Lighting is always crucial in fashion photography, and this event was no exception. I found myself constantly balancing the warm glow of candles with dramatic spotlights, and flash photography. This interplay of light sources allowed me to create depth and mood in my images.
